We classified in this section different instruments which have not found their place in the categories mentioned above : the Yabaras and the Gitas.
We offer several styles of wrought iron bells for dununs or doumdoums (kenkeni, Sangban, dunumba). In this category you will find bells forged in Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso) as well as bells forged in Baro in Hamana (Guinea).
Our yabaras are strung with strong synthetic cord to securely retain the beads which are of strong plastic and don't break easily. The gourds (calebashes) we use for our yabara are entirely hollowed out and then resealed. The resulting gourd is light, and free from any internal fragments.
Gitas are African calabashes orned with cawries. They are used as a kind of yabara, or maracas.
The ones we sell are manufactured with calebashew from Niger, which are well-known because of their perfect round form, and appropriate thickness.
